Seasonal Succulents
It’s officially one month from Christmas, and today is also my beloved’s birthday! We’re celebrating at Power Poppy today as well, with a very exciting sale in the store, and introducing some brand new images that are so perfect for this season of celebration! Marcy is introducing four new digital Christmas images with several variations in each image, so they are perfect for cards, tags and other Christmas and holiday projects. You’re going to be wowed!
I chose to work with this gorgeous succulent image, called Succulents and Baubles, formed into a lovely wreath, complete with a gorgeous bow, ribbon, and Christmas ornaments. I printed the image in a soft teal ink, and then coloured it all up with Copics.
I kept the card design quite simple, some pretty plaid paper, some scalloped edging, a pretty felt bow and then a few facted rhinestones to match. Such a lovely elegance to this wreath!

Dashing Through The Snow
Any dashing through the snow in your place in the world? We’ve had a dusting this past week, which makes it feel so much more wintery. The farmer’s almanac says we’re in for a lot of snow this year, so we’ll have to see how that turns out! But it’s in perfect timing for the challenge these next two weeks at The Cat’s Pajamas, Snow!
I pulled out this fun Santa sleigh from our new set Penguin Joy, stamped it onto XPress it Blending cardstock and then coloured it up with Copic Markers. I think our favourite little penguins look pretty cute flying in the sky to Santa’s next destination. I trimmed them out, placed them on one of our Double Snowflakes CutUp and placed it all on a kraft layer stamped up with white snowflakes in white craft ink.
I found some pretty red paper from Echo Park’s I Love Christmas pack and layerd that in the backgroudn along with some red grossgrain ribbon, twine a wood button and a layer of snowflake border with TCP’s Holiday Toppers CutUps dies.
Here’s the Copics I used for colouring. Aren’t these little guys fun?

Elephant Babies
Popping in with a sweet card for a new baby! This was at the request of a friend who needed a baby congratulations card. Just this morning we were talking about 3 new babies due or overdue in the coming week at Church. Our nursery is bursting! It is such fun to celebrate new little lives with people you care about!
Our little elephant from MFT’s set Adorable Elephants, is stamped in a cool gray ink, and coloured up with Copic markers in a no-line look. I added the 3 balloons in gones that matched this fun paper from Echo Park - It’s a Boy collection. A touch of baker’s twine holds that little stack of ballons together.
After sewing the layers together I added the stitched clouds from TCP, which add to the sweet floating in the sky theme.
Here’s the inside with an old sentiment I had in my stash which worked perfectly!

Jewel Toned Poinsettias
Bringing you some Christmas cheer again today with this gorgeous set from Power Poppy called Poinsettia. I rarely used jewel tones together, but since we’re doing a Think Pink Challenge, I thought it would be fun to pull some pretty pink, purple, teal and green colours together.
I stamped the image several times with a cool grey ink, and then coloured it all up with Inktense pencils and my water brush. I used a thicker cardstock instead of watercolour paper, because for some reason I feel like it keeps more of its pigment on cardstock. If you don’t use too much water, it still works great.
After the layers were coloured I cut it out and layered it together using foam dots in-between.
Here’s a closer look at the dimension between the layers. I added some sparkly pieces in the pennants, some teal sequins, and teal piece of cardstock embossed with a pine embossing folder.

Yeti Spaghetti
First, a bit of a tangent. Did your kids, or little people you knew ever watch the show The Backyardigans? When my kids were little they did. In the show colourful animated creatures would go on adventures, singing all the way through. One of their adventures was to find a “Yeti”, and they kept rhyming yeti with other words, like spaghetti, if my memory serves me right. When I was making this card the kids happened to be home and were reminded of that Yeti hunt, a sweet little memory!
Alright...back to card making. I purchased this sweet little set from MFT called Beast Friends, illustrated by Birdie Brown. She is still one of my favourite illustrators for her sweet whimsical style. I thought these adorable little creatures would work for a cute birthday card I made for one of my younger son’s friends birthday this last week.
Stamped on XPress It Blending cardstock in a softer warm grey ink (Memento Gray Flannel), then coloured up with Copics and trimmed out.
He’s just so cute! I placed him in a little snow scene cut with a new TCP die, Hill and Dale CutUps, adding on the coloured trees. I created the snow in the sky with white dots and on the trees with flicks of a white sharpie, and also gave his teeth some white polish with the white sharpie too. Layered together with some stitched dies, a little fishtale pennant flag and some ribbon and twine and he’s complete! The sentiment seemed fun for a 14 year old, while still remaining cute.
Inside includes some of his footprints because those yetis are so hard to find!
Here’s the Copics I used. He was really fun and honestly really easy to colour.

Chickadee Dee Dee
Happy Friday friends!
One of the sweet things about where we live is that chickadees make their home here most of the year. I often hear their little song “chickadee dee dee” when I’m home. When I saw this new digital stamp that Marcy created for Power Poppy, called Chickdee in Barberry, I let out a little squeal. Isn’t it gorgeous? I love the sweetness of this fluffy bird in the barberry.
It’s printed on XPress It Blending cardstock, and coloured up with Copics, then framed out in an-off center style with some deep burgundy. I tried to make him extra fluffy with some flicks of the marker so it looks like a cold day where he’s at.
In the background I embossed the snowflakes on a pretty blue and finished it off with some rhinestones. You might be able to tell in the lower left snow that I added Wink of Stella to make the snow sparkle, it never photographs really well, but it looks lovely in person.

Watercoloured Roses Two Ways
Even though we’ve had an unseasonably warm week, I’ve put all my flowers to bed for the winter, trimming down all my perennials and neatening things up a little. So since I have no garden flowers to show you, I thought I’d do some summery watercoloured paper roses for you with a couple of designs.
Months ago I purchased this lovely set from WPlus9 called Freehand Florals, and it sat for all these months waiting for some stamping. Finally I took some time to stamp them out! I love how even with a layering set like this you can get some really nice watercolor effects. So, as I stamped each layer of the flowers on watercolour paper, I took my waterbrush and blended out the stamping, which really gives it a soft impressionistic look. A little blue splattery ink helps with that dreamy look.
Around the image I used an MFT die as a frame and sparkled it up with VersaMark ink and Iridescent Embossing Powder.
An embossed vellum sentiment, some glittery ScorTape, and some sequins finish this one off. I like the softness.....but now how about something bold?
I used the same set with some deep reds, purples and eggplant colours to get a much more vibrant look. Again, this one is stamped on watercolor paper and I used the waterbrush in between stamping the different layers of the flowers and leaves. The sentiment was cut out on my Silhouette Cameo machine with a couple of layers so it pops up a bit.
Again I used vellum for the sentiment so that the colour of the flowers still shows through underneath. No sense doing all that pretty work for the stamping and then covering it up!
Inside I used a die cut leaf and blossom from the set too...sentiments are from a Power Poppy set, Party Time.

Starry Noel
How about another two-week challenge from The Cat’s Pajamas? Today we’re all about those sparkly stars in the sky. Just include some type of stars on your design and you’re in!
I pull together a rather patterned pop of colour on this design using one of our stamp sets brought back by popular demand J*lly H*liday. In place of the O in Noel, I used a pretty star from the inside of our Holiday Toppers CutUps die. All of this is paired with some zingy patterns from the I Like Winter collection from Echo Park.
As you can tell I added some glitter strips using Scor Tape and glitter, some more stars from our 3 x 3 Stars CutUps dies and a bit of twine, a button and some enamel dots. On the white layer behind the sentiment, I also stamped and embossed some of the stars from the new set Winter Style, it’s very subtle, but it adds some texture to the white, and you can probably see it more on the left side.

Pink Stockings
We’ve turned the calendar over to the month of November and that means a new Power & Spark Challenge at Power Poppy! This month Tosha is our hostess and she’s given us a “Think Pink” Challenge. Here’s what she had to say, "I love vintage, so I often think of white and pink for Christmas decor. I thought it would be fun to feature pink on a Christmas Card. So, for this month's challenge, let's THINK PINK and make it a Pink Christmas."
I thought it would be fun to make a very girly pink stocking with our new set Fully Stocked.
Stamped onto XPress It Blending and coloured with Copics. Actually when you choose a monochromatic palette, it’s really quick and easy to colour it up! I added a pinked type of border along the bottom to match what’s on the stocking trim and added buttons that tied in well too.
The outside sentiment is from our new set Holly Go Lightly.
Looks like a perfect stocking for a sweet little girl.
Inside I’ve decorated it up and added one of the sentiments of Fully Stocked as well.
