18 Reasons

Today our oldest, our daughter is 18!  I even scheduled this post for the moment she was born 18 years ago.  It changed our lives forever and we are grateful.  She is the one who pioneered the way for us as parents.  She brought us such joy and laughter and tears and fears all rolled together as we embarked on this parenting journey.  And though she was joined by her brothers in the years that followed, she was the one who brought life to what it meant to be a parent all those years ago.  Now she is a lovely young woman who is finding her place in the world, growing and stretching into all God has for her as a person, as a future educator and even now as she serves with children at Church and our elementary school.  She has seen the value of investing in young lives here and cross-culturally in Mexico City, and it’s part of the passion she has for her future.  She’s loyal and grounded, purposeful and so very intelligent and hard working.  She’s embraced the challenges of University and more independence with grace even through the bumps.  We are blessed by her and proud of her.  She is a world changer and I’m excited to see what the future will bring as she invests in it.  Happy Birthday love!

She is a girl that loves blue so I put together this design for her.  It’s with Power Poppy’s lovely Countryside Bouquet Deluxe and the sentiment is from Dynamic Duos:  Peonies and Tulips.  The papers are an older set, Far and Away I believe.  I stamped three of the cosmos blossoms onto the design and then added an extra one popped up for some interest.  Cut out with Labels 3 Spellbinders.

I’ve added a little sewing, some pretty sueded black ribbon and some enamel dots to finish it off.  Here’s the Copics I used.

Thanks for stopping by!

What a lovely card for an even lovelier young woman. Our first born children really teach us about the challenges of becoming parents for the first time, there are joys and tears too, moments filled with pride and also with worry but that is the beauty of it all. We take our first steps in this Journey holding the hand of this little person hoping to find the less bumpy path for them to travel. When they become adults we rejoice in knowing we had something to do with this glorious child that is spreading her wings and meet all that Life has to offer.
So, Happy 18th. Birthday to your sweet daughter Christine, may her Journey continue with many blessings and much success.
Many hugs from Crown Point, IN

Your daughter has grown into a beautiful young lady, Christine. You've given her the best upbringing and positive influence, but ultimately she is responsible for becoming the lovely person she is and you can be very proud of her. A gorgeous card, especially for one who loves blue. Happy birthday to your sweet 18 year old!

Oh, Christine, what a beautiful daughter, and what a delight to read what God has been doing in your life (as parents) and in your daughter's life...with more plans in the future for her! What a blessing, as a parent, to see your children grow into the people whom God has designed to be. We are all being shaped more and more into the image of Christ.

And what a beautiful card with such beautiful shades of blue and wonderful shapes and elements! I totally love how you've used these beautiful cosmos blossoms! Stunning! Thank you for sharing this beautiful post! Warm hugs!
